Tom Ellis and Christine Bottomley are among the actors being lined up to appear in three new dramas being made as part of BBC1’s The Preston Passion, which is a re-telling of the Passion story that will feature a mix of live performance and pre-recorded content.
The event will be broadcast from Preston, and presented by Fern Britton. It aims to include more than 3,000 local residents and will include contemporary dance pieces and “large-scale choreographed crowd movements”.
In addition, there will be three 13-minute dramas screened as part of the event, including Pilate, starring Ellis, and Mary, starring Bottomley and Pooky Qyesnel.
The third drama, Jesus, stars Paul Barber.
The Preston Passion will be screened on April 6.
